AFM soldiers from 1st Regiment’s Gozo Troop, of Qortin Base, Nadur detained a number of individuals on Sunday night in connection with drugs found on their person and driving without a valid licence.

At about 10.30pm on Sunday night, during a vehicle checkpoint (VCP) in Victoria, three occupants in a vehicle were observed throwing some objects out of the front passenger window before reaching the AFM’s VCP.

It was later ascertained that the objects included a chunk of cannabis resin. All three men, from Xaghra, were about 28 years of age.

In a separate case, a 19-year-old man from Sannat was detained after having been found without a valid driving licence.

Both cases were passed to the Victoria police for further investigation.
