A Dubai businessman who comes to Malta regularly was robbed of thousands of euro yesterday afternoon in a daring robbery in the Regional Road tunnel in St Julian’s.

Sources said the incident took place at around 3pm, when the businessman was stopped by a car as he was driving through the tunnel in the direction of Paceville. Four robbers, who were hooded and armed with various iron bars, got out of the car, shattered the windows of the businessman’s car and got away with thousands of euro.

The robbers fled the scene. The businessman was not injured.

The police are investigating.
