James Borg, Sander Grima, and Luke Saliba from St Augustine’s College won Category A of a competition organised by Enemalta Corporation in March, dealing with various subjects, such as generation and distribution of electricity, safe usage of electricity, and conservation of electricity.

Second prize went jointly to another team of students from St Augustine’s College and Mikiel Anton Vassalli Junior Lyceum. The third prize was awarded to a team of students from St Monica School, Gzira.

Category C was won by Maria Laura Vella from Year Six at St Monica School while San Benedittu College claimed second and third place thanks to Andrea Portelli and Charmaine Abdilla.

Enemalta chairman Ing. Alexander J. Tranter presented the winners with MP4 players and book vouchers for their school. Those who came in second and third place received a voucher from a computer shop. The winning entries as well as some other notable submissions were displayed at the Delimara power station during open day and also at a public exhibition in Valletta. The prize-giving ceremony closed the open week for students at Delimara power station, where over 1,500 students visited during the past five days.

The prize-giving ceremony was part of the programme of activities that Enemalta Corporation has organised for this year to mark 30 years of commitment to providing Malta’s energy. Forthcoming activities include summer sporting days and outings for Enemalta’s employees and their families, and the launch of a communications campaign in June to generate awareness of the role that Enemalta plays in the country.
