Two men are being held by the police and are assisting in the investigation after they were caught in possession of quantities of heroin, cannabis, cocaine and ecstasy in two separate drug operations.

The police said a 27-year-old man from Zabbar was arrested as he was leaving his residence. When he saw the police he tried escaping and even tried to swallow packets which were later found to contain heroin. A search at his house yielded more drugs and items connected to drug abuse. He was arrested and held for investigations.

Yesterday morning, the police arrested a 32-year-old man from Senglea. He was found in possession of ecstasy pills, as well as cannabis resin and cocaine.

The police searched his house and found more ecstasy pills and other objects related to drug trafficking, the police said. The two men are expected to be charged in court in the coming days.
