Your leader Exam stress (TMID, 24 May), hit the nail right on the head.
We are truly putting too much pressure on our younger generations. The exam system as we know it is creating a generation of frustrated and stressed children, and they will unfortunately take this experience with them into adulthood.
The education authorities should come up with a less stressful kind of assessment. What students do throughout the year should be given more weight than it is given at present.
I know of students who are extremely intelligent and study for long hours and yet feel blocked when the exams start. Students who in normal conditions are “A” class end up getting “C” marks because of this.
I believe that something needs to be done, and quickly too, to rectify this situation.
