We refer to the opinion article by Labour MP Leo Brincat, Iraq: Threats, prospects and solutions (TMID, 29 May).
We refer Mr Brincat to the reply to PQ 26294 wherein it was made clear that the two ministries that organised the event Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana were not involved in any way in the concert that had to feature Bobby Solo.
We repeat once again that this particular concert was a private initiative organised by a private company. Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana involved much more than this one event. In fact, it involved the participation of more than 450 artistes – most of whom were Maltese and Gozitan – who provided an excellent showcase of local talent on offer.
It is unfortunate that people from the Labour Party camp such as Mr Brincat chose to boycott this event, then termed it as a “failure” although as Mr Brincat states, a “madding crowd” attended what was a highly successful event.
