The Rural Affairs and the Environment Ministry will be organising Environment Week to mark World Environment Day, which is celebrated on 5 June.

The coming week will be filled with a number of activities and a different theme has been chosen for each day. The week will draw to a close with the annual environment festival, Echo-Fest, which will be held on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 June at Independence Gardens in Sliema.

On Monday, the chosen theme being “biodiversity”, the main event will be the first board meeting of the management board of the nature and history park planned for the north-west part of the island. Environment and Rural Affairs Minister George Pullicino will preside over the first part of the meeting.

“Urban environment” is the chosen theme for World Environment Day, which will be celebrated on Tuesday, while one of the main events on Wednesday will be the official opening of the Mriehel civic amenity site.

During the opening, students from the Malta College for Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) will be organising a fashion show with models wearing clothes made out of recycled materials.

These are only some of the various activities that will be organised next week.
