The Foreign Minister Dr Michael Frendo recently visited the British Council’s regional centre in Brussels covering West Europe and North America where he held talks with Stephan Roman, regional director and Ronnie Micallef, country director Malta. Malta’s Permanent Representative in Brussels, Richard Cachia Caruana, accompanied Dr Frendo.

The meeting covered various issues relating to wide-ranging changes to the remit of the British Council in Malta, which will be re-structured to primarily deliver multilateral Euro-Mediterranean programmes in collaboration with Maltese partner organisations. The minister was also informed of the British Council’s forthcoming publication, New Chapters,

a detailed study by the University of Malta’s Centre for Communications Technology, which examines perceptions of the UK and other EU countries at the university and MCAST.

Dr Frendo was also briefed on the British Council’s activity in Commonwealth countries. The British Council has representative offices in 28 Commonwealth countries, including Malta.
