Eman Grima is one of the most prolific exponents on the local art scene. His latest exhibition Works consists of around 100 recent drawings and paintings and is his 14th solo exhibition in a career that extends over a period of 30 years. Eman Grima has taken part in all the major collective exhibitions by Maltese artists in Malta, France, Germany, Italy, UK, and USA. His works are represented in permanent public and private collections in Malta and abroad.

In this exhibition, Eman Grima moves with ease between figurative and abstract art, and from one style to another, for as he explains “It is the creative process that I am really interested in. Styles and themes evolve on their own accord and the artist is the means for their development.” He adds that the art works in this exhibition are part of his search for different ways of expression.

The amount of nudes in oils, acrylic, pencil and pastel indicate that for Grima the human body is an invaluable source of inspiration. The figurative interest is deeply felt, and he gives each of his nudes fresh interpretations.

But the creative imagination can feed in many ways. The strong pictorial values found in his abstract work are also derived from the artist’s emotions and can equally elicit a strong emotional response from the viewer.

Works will be held at the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, Palazzo De La Salle, 219 Republic Street, Valletta, between the 6 and 28 June. Opening hours: 8–20 June, Monday to Friday from 10am–1pm and 4.30–7pm, Saturdays from 9am till noon; 21-28 June, Monday to Friday from 9.30–12.30pm.
