The National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE) believes that the article entitled “WE’s ‘expensive’ tender become more expensive still” was both erroneous and misleading (TMIS, 27 May).

The amounts quoted to show that the tender became “more ‘expensive’ still” is no more than the value of the tender and the VAT component added together. Moreover, the contracted amount catered for the carrying out of various activities other than the production of the TV programme.

NCPE provided information about this tender during a press conference held on 11 February 2006 to inform the media and the public about the procedures that were adopted during the award of the contract.

Interested parties were present.
