I refer to your article re Swieqi council reversing its one-way system (TMIS, 27 May).
I confirm that the matter was discussed during the last council meeting and that Gregory Brincat was not present at that meeting. However, the Swieqi local council is composed of myself and five other councillors that represent three political parties.
It is insignificant and of no importance what councillors say outside council meetings. However, they should refrain from making public certain points before these are presented at council meetings and discussed in a democratic manner between all councillors.
The points mentioned in your article, which although as stated were actually discussed, have not yet been approved and will only be decided upon when the next council meeting is convened.
It is very unprofessional that matters still under discussion be sent to the press for personal reasons. Local council meetings are open to the public and I do not agree with the theory expressed in your article.
