I just wonder why Daphne Caruana Galizia chose to link the canonisation of Dun Gorg Preca with irregular migrants (TMID, 31 May).

In her article, she has insulted all those Maltese faithful who see in Dun Gorg Preca a man whose example should be followed, a man who did so much for Maltese society, a man who gave his all to help those who needed support and education.

She mentions “responsible behaviour”. Well, she should be the first to be responsible by refraining from offending most of the Maltese with her writings, once, twice, three times. She should be responsible by respecting what most of Malta felt last Sunday, when they watched the canonisation ceremony taking place in Rome.

But, alas, I do not think that she knows what respect means. By trying to ridicule what Dun Gorg – now Saint Gorg Preca – has done for Malta, she has fallen to new depths.
