Peter Fenech will be appointed chairman of the Manoel Theatre as from next month, taking over from Wilfred Kenely who is leaving the post after being appointed Malta’s High Commissioner for India.

Dr Fenech will be taking over on 1 July, a day after Mr Kenely’s appointment expires. Dr Fenech will still retain the post of chairman of the Mediterranean Conference Centre, a post he has held since 2000.

Contacted by The Malta Independent yesterday, Dr Fenech confirmed that he will be taking over the chairmanship of the Manoel Theatre, saying that the two positions are not in conflict with each other.

The Manoel Theatre and the MCC are two different matters and they have two different functions and identities, he said, but there are areas where they could be in synergy and having a common chairman could lead to the better utilisation of resources.
