7,300 Calls on euro helpline 154 in five months

Malta Independent Thursday, 7 June 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

Euro helpline 154 was certainly very popular and those receiving calls were undoubtedly kept busy replying to people’s queries about the euro since the beginning of this year – a total of 7,300 calls were received by the end of May.

National Euro Changeover Committee (NECC) spokesperson Melvyn Mangion said the public’s thirst for information was increasing as the date for obligatory dual display approached.

Everyone selling services or products will be obliged to have a dual display of prices by 1 July and the NECC has been gearing up for this date by campaigning extensively and giving out information about the euro changeover.

As Malta prepares for euro-day, the NECC will be intensifying its campaign. At the weekend, NECC representatives will be setting up stands at the Gozo Trade Fair and at the environment festival, EchoFest, which will be held at Independence Gardens on Saturday and Sunday.
