A former policewoman has been jailed for one year suspended for two years after pleading guilty to acting as a private investigator without a licence.

Grace Gatt, a Gozitan 38-year-old woman who lives in Naxxar, pleaded guilty to acting a private investigator on 23 May 2006 and the preceding months. She also pleaded guilty to committing a crime she was duty-bound to prevent.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli also ordered the destruction of the “sensitive” photographs of third parties exhibited in court. He jailed her for one year suspended for two years.

Police Inspector Angelo Gafa prosecuted while Dr Gavin Gulia appeared for the accused.
