Emirates, the Dubai based international airline, will be holding a cabin crew recruitment day in Malta on Saturday at the Portomaso Suite of the Hilton Malta, St Julian’s. The airline will be looking for confident and motivated individuals, over 21 years of age, to join the rapidly expanding international airline.
Emirates have been flying to Malta since March 1998. At present the airline employs 112 Maltese nationals. The Malta Independent interviewed the airline’s Divisional Senior Vice-President Corporate Communications, Mike Simon, about current and future trends about Emirates and Malta.
What are the requirements for an individual to apply for a cabin crew position?
Besides the ability to read, write and be fluent in both Maltese and English, a candidate needs a positive attitude, outgoing personality and the ability to work well in a team with people from all around the world. Another essential attribute is an eagerness to meet the needs of our customers in order to give them a pleasant travelling experience while travelling with Emirates.
Which qualifications would prospective recruits require?
We at Emirates are seeking applicants who meet the following criteria: They need to be a minimum of 21 years old at the time of application with a minimum arm reach of 212 cms. This will enable them to reach emergency equipment on all aircraft types. They should have completed education to at least higher secondary level. Fluency in written and spoken English, plus another language beside Maltese will be an asset. Medically, they need to be fit to meet air crew requirements. We also take into account any previous experience in the service and/or hospitality sector.
What are the details of your scheduled event in Malta?
The Cabin Crew Open Day and Screening will be held on Saturday at Portomaso Suite, Hilton Malta, St Julian’s. Starting at 9am sharp, participants will be expected to attend all sessions throughout the day.
