Although aware of the history of your island from history lessons at school, I was enlightened and moved by the excellent “Malta Experience” I saw in Valletta a few days ago, on my first visit to Malta.

In the light of your unique history and endurance as a people against the odds over the centuries, I would urge you to be aware that the EU poses a threat less obvious, but every bit as dangerous, as those you have previously faced.

The powers in Brussels will strangle your democracy, just as they have ours, with the active cooperation as of your elected government. The only beneficiaries of this organisation are the functionaries and politicians who are driving it towards the unaccountable super-state, which has always been its goal.

You are surrendering your independence for a few new roads, a blue flag and a Mickey Mouse currency.
