Two Maltese sailors appeared to be well positioned for a gold medal each after yesterday's sixth race in the competition.

Benji Borg maintained the overall lead in the Laser Radial Class, while Sean Borg was leading the Optimist Class.

Moreover, Ella Fleri Soler was second in the women's Optimist Class, while Thomas Zammit Tabona and Gabriel Pace were both in contention for the bronze medal being placed fourth and fifth. Benji Borg maintained his overall lead in the Laser Radial Class despite finishing ninth in yesterday's race. He has accumulated 26 penalty points, while second placed Emmanuel Sanchez of Monaco has accumulated 32 points. Simon Aquilina is in fifth place on 37 points and Christophe Podesta is way back in 14th place on 48 points.

In the Men's Optimist Class, Sean Borg moved from second to first after Malta won the protest it lodged yesterday against Monaco, while Edouard Franconeri dropped to second place. Sean Borg, who won yesterday's sixth race, has 17 penalty points. Franconeri is on 20 points. In this class, Thomas Zammit Tabona, who won races four and five, finished sixth in yesterday's race, but has moved up to fourth place. He and Gabriel Pace, who lies in fifth place, are still in the reckoning for the bronze medal.

In the women's Optimist Class, Ella Fleri Soler maintained second place in the overall standings after finishing second in yesterday's race. She has 19 penalty points, seven more than first placed Maylis Darcet of Monaco. The other Maltese sailor in this Class is Abigail Fenech. She is sixth with 38 points. In the Laser Radial Class, Maya Podesta was occupying fifth place on 30 points.
