Madeleine Scerri won her third bronze medal at these Games yesterday as she helped the Maltese squad to finish third in the 4x100m medley.

The other three members of the squad were Nicole Cremona, Angela Galea and Davina Mangion.

The team actually finished fourth, but were awarded third place after Iceland were disqualified for an infringement. Madeleine Scerri managed to overtake the fifth placed team in the final 35 metres to finish in fourth place.

The Maltese got off to a slow start in the backstroke with Nicole Cremona finishing last with 1'12'68. Angela Galea finished the breastroke leg in 2'31'81. In the butterfly, Malta with Davina Mangion, was still trailing the other four teams when she clocked 3'39'17.

In the last 50 metres, Madeleine Scerri powered her way home in the freestyle and overtook the San Marino team member to finish fourth.
