Naxxar Lions finished fourth in the table and so ended their commitments on a positive note. After a rather dull first period the game came into life in the second period during which all four goals were scored.

The first threat came from Naxxar when Adrian Fenech pounced on a loose ball in Mgarr's half and his shot from outside the area missed the upright.

At the other end, Glenn Debono was fouled outside the area but Jonathan Muscat drove out from the resultant free- kick. Jonathan Muscat was then fouled outside Naxxar's area, he served Nathan Bugeja from the free kick but a defender foiled him from advancing any further with a timely tackle.

Mgarr keeper Noel Attard saved in two attempts a free- kick by Fenech after Anthony Spiteri was fouled outside the area.

Clive Borg Bonaci floated a perfect ball from a free-kick in Mgarr's area but found no takers to apply the killer touch and the last action before the break also came from Naxxar as Anthony Spiteri served Jurgen Balzan on the right flank and the ball was neutralised by the keeper from the latter's cross.

Mgarr took the lead in the second minute of the second half. Karl Vella served Franklin Muscat with a through ball in the area and his shot was deflected into Naxxar's net by Clive Borg Bonaci.

Naxxar reacted when creating two good chances cession. Noel Attard twice saved Adrian Fenech’s efforts.

The Mgarr lads did not give up but kept trying. Karl Vella served Franklin Muscat in the area and Naxxar keeper Anton Micallef had to dive at his feet to foil him from concluding and after a run down the right flank by Karl Vella, who dribbled past two opponents in the process he served Muscat with a cross and his shot from the edge of the area missed the upright.

Naxxar equalised on the hour.when Jurgen Balzan served Fenech with a cross from the right and he netted with a low shot from inside the area.

Naxxar created other chances from set-pieces but only managed to score in the 76th minute when from a cross from the right by Balzan, Attard fisted the ball away to a throw-in and Neil Gatt served Fenech on the edge of the area who netted a second goal.

Just before the final whistle the same player scored his side's third goal and personal hat-trick from inside the area after he was served with a through ball by David Farrugia.
