A man was yesterday jailed for two years and ordered to start and successfully complete a drug rehabilitation programme after he pleaded guilty to ransacking five residences in 2005 and 2007.

Kenneth Borg, 29, from Rabat, pleaded guilty to stealing more than Lm100 worth of items from a flat in Giuseppe Calleja Street in Swatar between 4 and 6 November 2005, to the detriment of Jessica Bajada.

He also pleaded guilty to stealing more than Lm1,000 worth from a flat in Garni Street in Mellieha on 20 March this year, to the detriment of Joseph Deguara as well as more than Lm1,000 worth of items from a flat in Tower Street, Msida, on 3 May, to the detriment of Adrian Bugeja. He also pleaded guilty to stealing more than Lm1,000 worth of items from a flat in Tgham Street in Mellieha on 13 May, to the detriment of Johann Vella and to stealing more than Lm1,000 worth of goods from a flat in Xemxija on 17 May, to the detriment of Anthony Gauci.

Before Magistrate Audrey Demicoli, Borg pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him. He was jailed for two years and ordered to start a drug rehabilitation programme.

Police Inspectors Daniel Zammit and Silvio Valletta prosecuted while Dr Daniela Mangion appeared for the accused.
