Last Saturday, the Palaghiaccio Citta di Catania hosted the magical Lovers on Ice with the participation of Maltese vocal group Trilogy.

This grand gala brought the sporting season to an end in front of an audience of 2,500 around the arena. Some of the best-known world athletes took part, with current European champions Aljona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy topping the list which also included ice-skating medal-holders from Ukraine, Czech Republic, Romania, France, Germany and Italy.

During the event presented by Alessandro de Leonardis and Miss Italy 1996 Denny Mendez, Trilogy performed Paul Abela and Joe Julian Farrugia’s Starlight. Other singers included Silvia Mezzanotte, who used to form part of Matia Bazar, and Rosalia Misseri who has interpreted Esmeralda in Ricardo Cocciante’s musical Notre Dame de Paris for more than 150 times.

Lovers on Ice was filmed and is set to be transmitted on La7 and Sky in the middle of June.
