Luisa Bonello Appointed Film Commissioner

Malta Independent Tuesday, 12 June 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Oliver Mallia has resigned as Film Commissioner and has been replaced by Luisa Bonello, the Investment, Industry and Information Technology Ministry announced yesterday.

No reason was given for the resignation.

Ms Bonello has been engaged with the film commission since its inception in 1999, and has been directly involved in the development and implementation of the policies, tools and structures required to create, sustain and market Malta as an international film destination.

Her work included the research, development, design, implementation and subsequent marketing of a tax incentive policy and general film act for Malta.

Ms Bonello has established an extensive international industry network of contacts and associates within the studio, independent and television sectors of the audiovisual industry, substantiating the film commission as the reference point of Malta’s film sector.

She was educated in Malta and the UK, and graduated from the University of Malta in Communications and International Relations.
