David Mifsud has resigned as Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Tourism Authority, the government announced yesterday.
A short statement, the tone of which implied there were differences between Mr Mifsud and his minister, Francis Zammit Dimech, said: “The Minister for Tourism and Culture accepted his resignation with immediate effect” and had instructed the Malta Tourism Authority to “immediately start the process to identify a suitable person” to fill the position.
No reason was given for the resignation. Mr Mifsud was appointed CEO less than a year ago in September 2006.
