Court: Man Jailed for 30 days

A 34-year-old man from Gzira was yesterday jailed for 30 days after he was charged with robbing two foreigners and slightly injuring one of them in a hotel in Sliema.

Gianluca Torres was charged with slightly injuring Vahid Zamanpour and with stealing Parviz Zafarinn’s mobile phone and damaging his spectacles.

Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani recommended that the director of the Cordin Correctional Facility ensures that the accused begins a drug rehabilitation programme.

Legal aid Dr Mark Busuttil was defence counsel.
