The Maltacom Group yesterday launched its re-branding exercise, merging the three companies Maltacom, Multiplus and Maltanet under one brand-name – GO.
GO chairman Sonny Portelli said that as of yesterday, the names Maltacom, Multiplus and Maltanet no longer existed and were now known as GO.
“In fact, when I started my speech I was the chairman of the Maltacom Group of Companies but when I will go back to my seat I will be the chairman of GO,” he said jokingly.
Mr Portelli explained that the re-branding was the first tangible instalment of the many changes promised at the last annual general meeting.
“The company has always been changing – this started over a year ago with the change of ownership,” he said.
The new logo, GO, has a fresh, clean and youthful image and the brand is based on the notion of the ability to fulfil promises – as can be clearly understood in its tagline Made For You.
Mr Portelli said that GO’s customers would receive the products and services they needed: individual customers would receive personalised bundles of entertainment while corporate clients would receive the services they needed delivered.
The new brand was based on the values that GO stands for: simple, creative, brilliant and honest, he added.
“The new brand is a clear example to our competitors of how we are meeting the challenges, how we operate and how we are moving ahead,” he said.
GO’s CEO, David Kay said that extensive research went behind the new brand GO.
“GO has become the new name of Malta’s only quadruple telecom provider in Malta – we have become stronger under one single brand,” said Mr Kay.
The merger of the three companies: Maltanet, Maltacom and Multiplus, was the culmination of the re-branding exercise. However, GO Mobile would continue operating as an independent company – still within the GO brand, he explained.
Extensive market research went into the company’s new brand and the strengths and weaknesses of the previous four brands, said Mr Kay.
“The word GO has positive connotations: fresh, dynamic and full of creative opportunities. The choice of white as the base colour helps to highlight the orange colour of the GO brand,” he added.
Three new brand descriptors were introduced yesterday: GO Plus, GO Business, GO Mobile. GO Plus offers all the services that are used at home: fixed line, broadband and digital TV. GO Business is catered for businesses – small, medium and large, while GO Mobile offers mobile communications for individual and business customers.
GO also launched a new website: www.go.com.mt, that brings together all its services in one practical and easy-to-use website.
Furthermore, said Mr Kay, GO would be launching new packages and bundles for its customers.
GO Plus and GO Business customers will use a single customer care number that will be active for 24 hours, seven days a week: 8007-2121. GO Mobile’s 146 and 7922-2146 would still remain active.
“Re-branding is not only about giving a company a new look – it is about the way our people behave, pick up and answer the phone and develop new products and services.
“A brand has to match the expectations of its customers and its employees,” said Mr Kay.
Maltacom plc will still remain the registered company name and it will still be listed in the local and foreign stock exchanges until this is eventually changed during a general meeting for the company’s shareholders.
