The parliamentary secretary for the elderly, Helen D’Amato, and Health Minister Louis Deguara, yesterday inaugurated a computer training course for elderly people who visit the day centres.
Ms D’Amato said elderly people should familiarise themselves with this new means of communication, which was increasingly influencing lifestyles.
Over 300 had applied to attend the courses, which were being given without payment in all the 16 day centres in the country, she said.
Dr Deguara said it would have been unimaginable until recently that the elderly would be trained in technology. The courses would open new horizons for them, he added.
