A man was yesterday charged with lending money at higher interest rates than allowed by law.
Nazzareno known as Leslie Cardona, 62, from Floriana, was charged with lending the money on 14 March and the preceding months.
Before Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.
Police Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted while Dr Franco Debono and Dr Charmaine Cherrett appeared for the accused.
