The first race of this year's edition of the Birkirkara St. Joseph Triathlon Series for 2007 will be held next Sunday at Wied il-Buni in Birzebbuga, starting at 7am.
This sprint triathlon will start with a 750 metres out-and-back swim from the small sandy beach near the entrance to the Malta Freeport.
The ensuing 20 kilometres bike segment will be held on a three-lap route between the Freeport round-about and the Hal Far round-about which will be closed for traffic. The final five-kilometre run will take the triathletes towards the village of Birzebbuga as far as the Bush-Gorbachev monument on a 2-lap route. The district police will be closing the Birzebbuga-Hal Far thoroughfare for traffic for the duration of the race.
This Series is organised under the auspices of the Malta Triathlon Association and carries ranking points for the Association's final classification. Red Bull will again be the main sponsors. The St. James Ambulance and paramedics will be in attendance.
Race entry forms will be accepted up to 20 minutes before the start.
