Finally, the government has come out of hibernation and is trying to tackle the island’s illegal immigration crisis. I’ve been reading articles on this subject for months, mostly by people who have no respect for our own identity and culture.
First of all let me comment that the proper term is “illegal immigration” and not “irregular immigration” as sometimes quoted. Anyone entering a country without the required documents is considered illegal, no matter where he comes from and for whatever reason.
Minister Frendo had lots of meetings with various authorities but to date, Malta has gained nothing more than a malevolent European response from the few figureheads. It is a pity we are trying to solve this national problem now. We should have dealt with it years ago. I am sure the majority of Maltese citizens (perhaps “Maltese voters” will better suit the politicians) share the same opinion. However, the Nationalist Party in government is simply unable to take nationalist decisions in the interests of our country. The problem of
illegal immigration is not a problem by nature but one that has
been created by the present administration. I am stating this because I believe that this problem exists due to the inability of the government to act properly and in a timely manner.
Nationalist stands would be stopping trespassers at the borders rather than accepting them as immigrants on an illegal mission. Truly nationalistic measures are not asking Europe to help. The illegal immigrants, I am now solely referring to African ones, venture entering mainland Europe and not Malta. If Europe really considers our suggestions, then the number of illegal immigrants would suddenly intensify. This is obvious. As millions of Africans searching for a better future come to learn that Malta is the gateway to Europe and that, due to the system we pursue it will be much easier to accomplish their mission, they will undoubtedly be encouraged to sail to our shores in their thousands. We should encourage Europe to hold talks with the African union and refrain from accepting people who claim to be in danger at our borders. We solve our problems and they solve theirs. They know that crossing the waters would pose a danger. Now should we accept those who insist on threatening us by their own skin?
All African illegal immigrants intend getting refugee status. But is a refugee status in the majority of the cases justifiable? How come the Sudanese, for example, flee their homeland because of local havoc and decide to come to Europe rather than go to neighbouring Egypt, Libya or perhaps the oil-rich Saudi Arabia. And if Libya, an African country, is not able to deal with its neighbour’s problem (African too) how come us Europeans, on a much smaller land scale, are being asked to help? Who is pressuring us to accept these illegal immigrants?
Australia, that also has a huge illegal immigration problem, is faring much better. The Christian Democratic Party also supported the nationalist decisions taken by Prime Minister Howard. Rev. Fred Nile MLC stated (and this six years ago): “Our party is also concerned about maintaining racial, religious and social harmony in Australia, so our families, especially young women, can live in a safe and peaceful society”. What a difference inbetween!
Illegal immigration is a problem in all countries worldwide, worst for the wealthiest countries. The US is a sound example. The possibility of a better future, wage, social system etc. attracts everyone of course – a person’s main aim for travelling illegally to another country. As long as the richer countries admit these
people, others will be encouraged to do the same!
Europe is a very small continent compared to Australia and the US. Our blood has brought the continent to ruins twice in recent history. Europe faced hunger, poverty, disease… but us Europeans are different. Look at us, what a change since WWII. Now should our sacrifices and efforts serve to accommodate freely those coming from vast resource-rich lands?
We have to defend our country from legal invasion by illegal immigrants, be it with the support of Europe or without. We cannot wait any longer. The illegal immigrants are breeding “legally-Maltese”. You do not need to be a graduate to predict the future that lies ahead for the present Maltese families with such a low birth rate in a situation where foreign parasites from a different culture breed much more.
The belief of some that different cultures can live peacefully together is nothing but a dream. Soon after the riots, Nicolas Sarkozy was unashamed to voice his true feelings and state that multi-culturalism had failed. Today, he’s the president of France.
Racism is the term defining discrimination or intolerance towards people of a different race. I have no personal aversion towards people from a different race. I respect all races. However, in a world worried by the extinction of an insect, one cannot neglect the fact that the number of whites is dwindling. Many are worried about this fact for, as they try to discuss the issue, others label them as racists. Guarding your own genetics doesn’t make you a racist. There again, while we speak of racism, equality, rights and all the mumbo jumbo, Whites in South Africa are being discriminated against day after day. And Europe is silent!
I’d love to go to Asia to see a different landscape and experience a different culture from top to bottom. A few years ago it was the same with England, France and Germany. Not any longer. Our identity is being lost and Europe is becoming one country with numerous cultures where the minor ones are fading and the numerically bigger ones are prevailing – let alone the higher crimes and confusion such cosmopolitanism brings.
Malta is moving steadfastly towards the same fate. Being much smaller and critical, the results will be much more devastating.
