Moviment Graffitti, Flimkien Ghal Ambjent Ahjar and Friends of the Earth Malta expressed concern about applications to develop supermarkets outside development zones.

They said that after Mosta and Zebbug, it was now the turn of Zabbar. The application concerns the development of another supermarket in Zabbar on a stretch of agricultural land outside the development zone, next to several greenhouses.

The NGOs said that “not only should the approval of this application be ruled out but regulations should be amended to stop this waste of taxpayer funds on processing such unacceptable ODZ applications.”
