A man who the court heard has an alcohol addiction problem was yesterday refused bail after pleading not guilty to assaulting three policemen and injuring one of them, while under the influence of alcohol.
Joseph Saliba, 42, from Gudja, pleaded not guilty to assaulting a police sergeant and two police constables on Monday afternoon. He was also accused of injuring a police officer, driving while under the influence of alcohol and relapsing.
Before Magistrate Doreen Clarke, Mr Saliba pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. He was refused bail and was remanded in custody where he will receive treatment for his alcohol addiction.
Police Inspector Joseph Agius prosecuted while legal procurator Mario Mifsud Bonnici appeared for the accused.
