A delegation of nine Maltese language schools and education providers attended the Foreign Languages Week in Beijing on 26 and 27 May in Chaoyang Park, organised by the International Exchange Centre of the Foreign Affairs Office of Beijing Municipality.

The participation of the Maltese education sector was assisted by the Maltese embassy in Beijing, who organised the booths, and provided the participants with logistic and other support.

The strong Maltese contingent was in China as part of a business delegation, comprising almost 40 companies from all sectors, accompanying the Foreign Affairs Minister on an official visit to China on the occasion of the 7th Session of the Malta-China Joint Commission on Economic and Trade Affairs.

The Foreign Languages Week was attended by representatives from Linguatime School of English, Easy School of Languages, LAL School of English, Geos English Languages Centre, BELS English Languages School, Alpha School of English, Link School of English, Skylark Mediterra-nean School of English and St Martin’s Institute of IT.

The Foreign Languages Week was attended by hundreds of Chinese students interested in developing their language skills abroad. It was one of several events organised by the Foreign Affairs Ministry to support the efforts of the education sector and its marketing efforts in China.
