A man had his six-month jail term suspended for four years and ordered to address his anger management problems, possibly due to his alcohol addiction.

Kevin Debono had originally been jailed for six months after he was found guilty of stabbing another man in his left leg and possessing a sharp and pointed instrument during the commission of a crime.

The Court of Criminal Appeal, presided over by Mr Justice David Scicluna, heard that Debono and the victim, Carmel Hartley, had made friends since the incident occurred four years ago. It also heard that Mr Hartley had been compensated for the injuries he sustained and had forgiven Debono for what he had done.

In view of this, Mr Justice Scicluna suspended the six-month jail term for four years and placed Debono under a supervision order so that he would address his anger management problems, possibly due to excessive consumption of alcohol.
