The police said yesterday that media reports about claimed collaboration between the prosecution and Emanuel Camilleri, known as il-Bully, were wrong. The newspapers Illum, The Malta Independent on Sunday and the electronic Maltastar.com said that as a result of the collaboration Camilleri would benefit from a sentence remission because he had furnished information which led to the arrest of Hasan Ben Salah, a Dutchman being tried for drug trafficking in Malta.
The police said the reports were based on erroneous information. These sort of reports could deceive the public and cheapen the work of the police, the police said in a statement.
