The Melita Digital National 4 stroke Karting league organised at Badger Raceway came to an end on Sunday 27 May. Two drivers, namely Justin Agius and Zack Zammit came into this race with aspirations of being crowned 2006/07 champion as after the penultimate race they were level on points sharing top spot in the standings.
Nerves played a part during the qualifying session as Adam Bugeja who claimed his third pole of the season out paced both. Bugeja took full advantage of his pole start as he built an early lead over the rest of the field. Five minutes into the race Zammit started to find his consistent rhythm and closed up the gap from first placed Bugeja. Here the crowd present was in for a thriller between these two talented drivers. Both drivers jostled each other for the reminder of the race, however Zammit took advantage of a slight over steer by Bugeja and went on to take the win by the closest of margins, securing a championship win to claim an unprecedented third championship in three years. Agius could not keep the pace with both front runners and had to settle for 3rd place on the day while also being condemned to runner-up in the over all standings. On his part Bugeja after having a slow start to the season recovered well to finish an overall 3rd in the standings
