Josef Mifsud a 22 year old international central defender yesterday signed a five year deal with the Citizens. A few days ago Mifsud was reported heading towards other top local clubs.

Josef Mifsud a product of the Sliema Wanderers nursery made his debut in the Premier League in 2002 and in the season 2003/04 he joined Msida SJ.

This is the fourth signing so far for the 2007/08 season for Valletta FC. Earlier last month Stefan Giglio signed a four year deal following by the re-signing of striker Sebastian Monesterolo and also of German midfielder Heiner Backhaus earlier this week.

Josef Mifsud had an outstanding season last year with Msida SJ, and was surely one of the best players in the Premier League.

He should be an asset for Valletta’s rearguard next season.The Citizens are expected to be a force to be reckoned with next season, as more signings are expected in the coming days.
