Masquerade’s Summer Experience is back with some very exciting workshops for kids aged 7 years and over as well as adults. Masquerade Theatre Company is a leader in this field, having devised the first series of summer workshops back in the summer of 2000. The idea is to give youngsters or the ‘young at heart’ the chance to act, dance and sing, and experience the fun of performing in one exciting week. This year we have some great guest tutors. Applicants will be working with the best including a freelance professional theatre director who has done work for the National Theatre in London.
MSE offers unique opportunities to both youngsters and adults to work with guest foreign tutors and be exposed to new artistic ideas. It provides high quality training opportunities, tackling different areas each year. This year is no exception and no less than four tutors will be coming over to conduct various workshops in the performing arts, which will certainly offer stimulating ideas for local students and performers.
During their recent visit to the UK, Masquerade managed to get the services of one of the leading freelance directors from London’s National Theatre. Maxwell Key will be coming over to Malta this July to conduct various workshops in acting to suit both youngsters and adults. Max will work on different texts ranging from Grimm’s Tales to Cabaret to playwrights Tennessee Williams and Arthur Miller. Students will enjoy working on extracts from plays, learning new techniques and discover new ways of working with different texts.
A brand new, exciting workshop for this year will be focusing on the ever-popular Street Dance and Hip Hop. Jorell Coiffic-Kamall, Desrinea Ramus and Joe Chaplin will be teaming up to conduct these energetic sessions that will cover many styles of Street Dance – Locking, Popping, raw Hip Hop and Break Dancing. Our guest tutors have choreographed a unique medley especially for Masquerade’s Summer Experience students. This fun and energetic workshop is a must for anyone who wishes to learn more and/or give it a go at this style of dancing.
Masquerade’s Summer Experience will take place over one week from 23 - 29 July. There are mornings, afternoons and evening sessions to choose from.
