Another 99 immigrants landed in Malta in four groups over the weekend, the police said yesterday.

The first group of 28 arrived at about 3am on Saturday, while two groups of 31 and 25 irregular migrants were brought to shore on Saturday afternoon, and another 15 landed yesterday morning, the police said.

Apart from the second group (31), all migrants were brought in by the Armed Forces of Malta at Hay Wharf.

The group of 31, including 22 men, eight women and a child, landed at Ghar Lapsi at around 5pm on Saturday. The police were informed about the migrants and went on site immediately. The migrants had already disembarked and were sitting on the rocks.

Later on, members of the Armed Forces of Malta assisted another group of 25 irregular migrants who were in trouble in the Maltese territorial waters. This group was brought to Hay Wharf by AFM personnel. All migrants were male.

Meanwhile, just before midday yesterday, the police said that yet another group of 15 irregular migrants had been rescued and brought to shore. The police said 10 of the migrants were male, there were four females and a child.

The police are conducting their investigations.
