In front of a sizeable crowd, Matthew Asciak clinched the Marsa Sports Club Open Singles title, beating Mattia Pecotic in straight sets yesterday.

In the first set Asciak beat his opponent 6-4.

In the second set, Pecotic’s game improved but he also produced several double faults.

Asciak managed to repeat the first set’s scoreline and won again 6-4.

In the doubles final Matthew Asciak, partnered by Mattia Pecotic, got the better of Delicata brothers Marcus and Daryl, to win the title.

Present for the presentation of prizes were Mr. James Stagno Navarra, area sales Manager for British Airways, Marsa Sports Club Chairman Mr. Ralph Asciak and Mr. Godwin Borg Chairman of the tennis section
