Malta Independent Tuesday, 26 June 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Joe Cordina was confirmed as President of the Gozo Football Association for the next two years during the Annual General Meeting which was held yesterday.

The Executive Committee of the Gozo FA will therefore be formed as follows: President - Joe Cordina, Vice-Presidents - Joe Camilleri and Charles Calleja, General Secretary - Alvin Grech, Deputy General Secretary - Mario Camilleri, Treasurer - Anthony Camilleri, Assistant Treasurer - Francis Grech, P.R.O - Joe Louis Sciberras, and GFA Facilities Manager - Charlie Farrugia.

Addressing the members, Cordina spoke about the work done by the GFA administration over the past six years. He said that despite the financial constraints, the GFA has done its best to improve the facilities at the Gozo Stadium.

In fact the GFA recently inaugurated the floodlighting project at the Gozo Stadium. This was done with the support of the Ministry for Sport, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry for Gozo. Member clubs and supporters are the main beneficiaries of this project.

“We are determined to keep on working on other projects so that Gozo will have a modern and fully equipped stadium,” continued Mr Cordina. The GFA President said the association needs to work harder to attract more youths to the game and to encourage them to keep on playing football.

Another target of the association is to strengthen the Gozo FC without disrupting the GFA leagues and to organise a female League.
