Lee Lombardi Set to join Birkirkara

Malta Independent Tuesday, 26 June 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Sliema defender Lee Lombardi is set to become a Birkirkara player, Stripes chairman Victor Zammit said yesterday.

The latter said agreement on terms had been reached between both parties and the player was expected to put pen to paper by today.

The Stripes are building a new squad and he will be a welcome addition to three others who have already been signed by the club, that is, Paul Fenech from Msida, Kenneth Spiteri from Hibernians and Bulgarian Emil Yantchev, returning to the side after a one-year stint at Marsa.

Also, the Stripes are giving a trial to two foreigners, a Danish central defender with top division experience in Denmark and a Bulgarian striker who had been on the books of top club Levski Sofia. The two have left a good impression and will also be expected to be confirmed, along with Yantchev, as the club’s three foreigners for the coming season.
