The second Invitational Under 16 tournament open for European players will be held between Thursday 10 and Sunday 13 January 2008 at Apple Snooker Club.
The players will be staying at the four star San Antonio Hotel & Spa who are the main sponsors. The players will have free hotel accomodation for five nights with buffet breakfast. It has been decided that players eligible to take part are those born on or after the 1 March 1991.
Like last year, all the top European players will be invited. In the second edition of this tournament it is anticipated that at least 10 players will be taking part.
Vincent Pisani, the organiser of these tournaments said that he is going to give another wonderful opportunity to at least one or perhaps two Maltese players to take part.
The 2006/07 Under 15 Snooker champion Shaun Sultana has already been confirmed. During the past two years Vincent Pisani has already given a lot of opportunities to many Maltese youngsters and helped them in taking part in as many international tournaments as possible.
These initiatives have helped three players to participate in the Baltic Cup in Latvia, three players in the 2006 European Under 19 Snooker Championship also in Latvia, seven players in the Under 13 and Under 17 International Games against Austria in Malta and Vienna, two players in the Swiss Open in Zofingen and four players for the 2007 European Under 19 Snooker Championship in Wales.
Vincent Pisani has promised that these opportunities will continue in order to further develop, foster and encourage more young players in the game of snooker.
Future star Luca Brecel from Belgium won the 2007 edition while one of the top English players, Darren Cook, and Maltese player Thurston Grixti finished in second and third place respectively followed by Nicky Godeyne of Belgium in fourth place.
