The Labour Party yesterday released the text of a letter sent by party secretary-

general Jason Micallef to Public Broadcasting Services editorial board chairman John Camilleri.

In the letter, Mr Micallef pointed out that last Sunday, the leader of the Nationalist Party, (Prime Minister) Lawrence Gonzi did not address a public party activity but instead took part in a political programme on the Nationalist Party’s radio, Radio 101.

Mr Micallef said that the Labour Party had noted that the PBS 8pm news bulletin had carried an extensive report of what Dr Gonzi had said on Radio 101, and this was accompanied by a film showing Dr Gonzi participating in the programme, in the studio of the PN’s radio channel.

In the light of this development, he added, the Labour Party was asking whether the treatment given to Dr Gonzi on Sunday would also be given to the other political leaders in the country from now on, whenever they were taking part in a political programme on their party’s radio channel.

A copy of the letter was sent also to Broadcasting Authority chairman John FX Scicluna.
