Champions Marsaxlokk have started training in anticipation for their matches in the Champions League on 18 or 19 July.

Marsaxlokk are taking part in the first qualifying round of the Champions League for the first time in the club's history. They will know their opponents on Friday when the draws are made by UEFA at their Nyon headquarters in Switzerland.

Marsaxlokk have kept more or less the same squad as last season, though coach Brian Talbot will have to rebuild the attack after losing Andre Schembri and Daniel Bogdanovic to German and foreign clubs during the past few weeks.

Schembri will be playing for German second tier side Eintracht Brunsweig, while Bogdanovic is currently on a trial with SK Brann of Norway and it is likely the Norwegians will keep the Malta striker.

To replace these two stalwarts Marsaxlokk are looking forward to signing two foreign players whose names have not yet been divulged.
