Every project introduced by the Nationalist Party is always considered “state of the art”.

Imagine the greatest hospital in the world minus helicopter pads on the rooftops.

Imagine the most modern hospital in the world drowning at the first thunderstorm so much so that in certain parts of the hospital one was prone to wear flippers and goggles to get inside.

In Gozo we have Minister Giovanna Debono who considers every “facelift” done on the roads as “state of the art”.

The same description was attributed to the Gozitan Notte Bianca. It was another “state of the art” that was certified as a marvellous event that mesmerised many.

According to the Nationalist Party, professionals at remarking over and over again they have performed miracles over the years, people were actually on the verge of maiming each other trying to get in where the three tenors were supposed to be performing.

Never mind admitting the cultural event was a downright flop!

The day centre for the elderly being built at Mellieha, which is to be opened in less than a year, will be a real “state of the art” seeing that it is going to be a rush-rush job because it has to materialise before the coming election. Here’s hoping that this private-public partnership will not be a case of “hurry in haste and repent at leisure.”

These “state-of-the-art” projects sure are helping to make “our money” go down the drain much too often; or is it a case of not bothering about the money as long as it’s the taxpayer who is forking out the money?
