Valletta’s activity in the transfer market is expected to gain momentum in the next hours as the club will be signing young 22-year old goalkeeper Andrew Hogg from Pieta Hotspurs to join their ranks for the coming season.

Hogg,who is a Pieta product, becomes Valletta’s fifth major signing for 2007/2008 season so far.

Earlier midfielder Stefan Giglio, striker Sebastian Monesterolo, German midfielder Heiner Backhaus and defender Josef Mifsud all signed new contracts with the club from the capital.

And after securing Gilbert Agius’ services for another four years, Valletta are in the hunt for a third foreigner, after Branco Nisevic failed to renew his contract.

In all probability, the Citizens’ new foreigner will be striker Ibrahim Babatunde, currently on the books of Msida SJ.

Meanwhile Malta international keeper Justine Haber, signed by Marsaxlokk last January, but dropped by coach Talbot in the final phase of the season, is believed to be seeking pastures abroad once more.

Haber is in talks with a Greek club, reportedly of a low division, to play for them next season.

Haber already had spells abroad, namely in France before returning to Maltese football.
