The Malta Federation of Industry (FOI) announced the appointment of Ing. Ray Muscat as director-general of the Federation, effective on Thursday, 5 July.

Mr Muscat is an engineer by profession, having attained full membership of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, obtained the Chartered Mechanical Engineering qualification from the London Engineering Council and been awarded the local engineering warrant.

He specialised with a master’s degree from Brunel University of West London in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Systems.

He has gained over 15 years direct industrial experience in the local manufacturing industry and his own businesses.

Before joining the Malta Federation of Industry, he occupied a senior management post with Malta Enterprise Corporation as chief officer, Enterprise Support and Innovation, responsible for enterprise support, and relationship management, including support to several large client projects.

Ing. Muscat has served on various local, European Commission and international committees and boards, mainly related to science and technology development, incubation industry, innovation and enterprise.

The outgoing director-general, Wilfred Kenely, has recently been appointed High Commissioner for Malta in India.
