Valletta and national team captain Gilbert Agius was confirmed Footballer of the Year by the MFA on Thursday evening during a Council meeting.

After having taken a substantial lead the previous week which had made him a great favourite for a third title in his career, Agius was confirmed by the Council after polling 46.34 points, ahead of second placed Daniel Bogdanovic of Marsaxlokk who finished with 42.28 points. Third was George Mallia of Birkirkara on 40.63 points.

The other honours went as follows:

Division One: J.P. Muscat (Mqabba) 50.94.

Division Two: D. Scerri (Lija) 45.27.

Division Three: C. Ellul (Fgura) 45.38.

Youths: H. Bonello (Sliema) 51.01.

Women’s League: C. Camilleri (Birkirkara) 56.51.
