Enemalta To submit counter-proposals by Friday

Malta Independent Wednesday, 4 July 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Enemalta Corporation has informed the General Workers’ Union and the Enemalta Professional Officers’ Union that it will be submitting its counter-proposals on the corporation’s collective agreement by the end of this week, the GWU said in a statement.

The GWU said that it appears that the corporation’s management had decided to act after the unions had given notice of industrial action that was to start tomorrow.

Earlier yesterday, the two unions had written to Enemalta chairman Ing. Alex Tranter that the unions would be ordering industrial action if no reply was forthcoming from the corporation.

The two unions insisted that the corporation draws up a schedule of meetings during which the negotiations could take place. The unions have now withdrawn their notice of industrial action but, if the management fails to keep its promise, the directives will be implemented as from Monday.
